Leggings: The Right & Wrong Way

C. Rodriguez
So the appeal of leggings hasn't died down yet, they're a super cute way to bring summer looks into the fall but like any other trend there are right and wrong ways to wear them. Here are some do's and dont's of leggings.

1. Leggings and denim Mini-skirts.
Skip this look if you want to look over the age of 14. While it is a cute look, it can go horribly wrong. It's kind of outdated, but can be okay if worn the right way.

DON'T: Don't pair this look with:
-Dirty sneakers or running shoes.
-long socks that don't match
-a skirt that's too long. If the skirt is too long you might as well wear stockings, leggings go best with mini-skirts.
-Heels, heels and mini-skirts are a big no-no.

DO: Wear this look with:
-Cute flats or boots
-bright colored leggings like these from wet seal, with a dark shirt and dark wash mini.
-cute printed leggings like these zebra print ones from American apparel, with a plain outfit, like a plain t-shirt and flats.

2. Leggings as Pants.
DON'T: Just don't, if your leggings are a thin fabric don't try and pass them off as pants. It doesn't work, it can look very tacky.

DO: Pair thick leggings like these rubber leggings from urban outfitters, with a long shirt.

3. Tunics.
DON'T: Don't wear a super short tunic or a super short tunic with sheer leggings.

DO: Wear a cute tunic like this with plain or bright colored leggings and boots or flats.

So, follow these simple rules to pull of this trend and bring some of your favorite summer looks into the fall!
