Lego Batman: The Video Game Review (PS3)

Lego Batman: The Video Game is an action-adventure video game released on the Playstation 3 and developed by Traveller's Tales. The Lego series has gotten a bit of attention and even worse, a bit of a bad reputation. They aimed to erase all that with Lego Batman though. Did they succeed?

Story : Just wow. The story in this game totally floored me. You get to play as the villains. Yes, you read that right. You can play as most people in the Batman mythos and for any Batman fan that will automatically make this game a 10/10. There are some really nice surprises here but I won't spoil them.

Graphics : This game's graphics are excellent. I have a few gripes, but none are major. First, almost the entire game takes place at night. This is obvious as Batman fights crime at night. Only thing is, the night is a little too dark and it can be hard to see things correctl. The amount of detail here is extremely good, and despite being Legos all the characters look exceptional. A really great game, graphically.

Sound : The sound is really excellent, and the streets of Gotham feel very alive sound-wise. The music like wise is excellent and fits the game very well. The sound design in general nailed everything important to the Batman mythos, such as the grappling hook, batarangs, freeze gun, joy buzzer, coin flips. All sound great and fit in the game very very well.

Game play : I do so hate the camera in this game. It's not overtly annoying but it does become an issue far more than it should be. Some people say this game is too easy, but I think the difficulty is really quite perfect. This game isn't too challenging no, but it's not a mashing game either. You have to pay attention or you will die very fast. The play length is a good time too, you can finish this game in a day will steady playing and in two days if you really take your time. It's a very good experience, though.

Re playability : You actually have to play through the game more than once to even access and unlock everything. The game is a joy to play though, so playing through it again and again is a blast. If you're a Batman fan at all, I can promise that you will paly this game many times.

Overall : 8/10. An excellent game, and highly recommended for anyone who's a Batman fan.
