Have you ever seen some of the amazing things people have made from Legos? They make the most extravagant buildings, cities, people, vehicles, and other structures, all from those plastic blocks. I'm not quite that talented. I can manage to build a square or rectangular building - and not an impressive one at that. And, I can't guarantee that the building will end up with a roof, attached garage, or any other extras. Still, it's fun to snap the blocks together and make simplistic things with my grand kids. Shh, don't tell anyone but, every once in awhile, after the grandchildren leave, I play with the Legos myself. Playing around, I found that I could make silly things, and even helpful things, all with the colorful blocks. And, when you play with blocks, you can quickly make a chopstick holder for yourself - or many of them for guests - and do so in minutes. You don't have to be a Lego artist and, in fact, it will take only a couple of seconds to make each one.
A place to rest your chopsticks, as you break a piece of bread, or otherwise stop eating, is a nice thing to have, especially if you're entertaining guests. It looks much nicer than leaving them propped on the plate or bowl, and chopstick holders also add a nice accent to the table - especially if they're made from colorful Legos.
There are assorted arrangements you can make to hold the chopsticks. One is to just use a single block, which has eight nodules, as the base of the chopstick rest. Connect a small block, which has only two nodules, at each end of the large block. Make a slightly different arrangement by adding a second set of the small blocks to each end, to build pillars on the sides. To use the rest just lay the chopsticks between the two pillars.
Add another element to the chopstick holder by creating a second arrangement, just like the first, to hold the handle of the chopsticks. Just space the two sets apart so that the person eating can lay them across both sets. To help hold the Legos in place, use pieces of double-sided tape to temporarily stick them to the table.
With the Lego's coming in various colors there are lots of different designs you can create for the chopstick rests. Create a piece out of blocks of the same color, make the sides of the holder a different color than the base, or create your own combination. The chopstick holder is simple, helpful, and cute as can be.
