Lego Knight Battle Pack: Giving Evil a Run for It's Money

5 Well Done Knights

Miss Fortune
When Lego released the Knight (852271) and Skeleton (852272) Battle Packs the hard core collectors went crazy for them. Not only were you getting five unique figures but it was the cheapest way to get extra figures. If you build huge scenes then you know that you have to have figures to fill in bare spots. Until they started releasing sets like this you were stuck buying the genpop (general population) sets of basic figures. That meant you have to spend time customizing them and more money buying accessories.

The knights in this set are well done, have unique colors and designs to them and come with some great accessories. It doesn't matter what theme you have or are working with, these knight will fit in perfectly. They are the same scale as standard Lego elements and figures so mixing and matching them isn't an issue. Kids love the knights, adults love the skeletons.

Knights: The five figures are all unique so you aren't getting some basic set of knights. They all have different helmets too and that really helps when you want a scene to look as detailed as possible. The Lego designers even went so far as to give them all different facial expressions and detail. There's a lot of silver and gray in their clothing and armor and even the ones with stenciled detail can be customized to look a little different. If you have other knights that came with armor you can use it on these for different combinations and looks. Contrary to what other sites have said about this, there are no horses provided with it.

Weapons: The bronze tone crossbow is the nicest weapon in this set but the long blade sword is also impressive. There are three pole type weapons; a jousting stick, double blade scabbard and pike with spear. These look great but they can be a little problematic when you are posing the figures and they are not on a base plate. To solve that you can add a little bit of poster putty to the bottom of their feet to keep them upright. Like the skeletons you can pose these guys on horseback if you want.

The suggested retail price for this set is $14.99 but I have seen it for ten dollars in local toy stores. You can also wait for the "buy one, get one free" sales that happen on Lego toys at the beginning of the summer. This is the absolute cheapest way to get your hands on five knights and weapons. When I was building my castle scene I was always ripping apart basic figures and trying to figure out how to customize them for the different parts of the castle that needed more Lego minifigs.

There aren't many figure sets like this, that's a shame because they are a great way to expand a scene without having to buy larger sets just to get the figures. If you like this set but are looking for something darker you might want to check out the Lego Skeleton Battle Pack (852272).
