Lego Tron - the Next LEGO/Disney Partnership?

Zachary Fruhling
LEGO has had a strategic partnership with Disney for some time, including LEGO sets for the popular "Toy Story" film series. Given the recent success of "Tron: Legacy," the sequel to the original Tron film, it remains to be seen whether Disney and LEGO will make use of their strategic partnership to create a series of Tron LEGO sets.

Given the ever-popular LEGO space sets, including LEGO Star Wars and the Space Police series, it is easy to imagine that LEGO Tron would be not only successful but a colorful addition to the LEGO toy lineup. As with any such partnership, the viability of any LEGO Tron series would presumably be based upon the ability of LEGO and Disney to reach a licensing agreement.

It is easy to imagine what a LEGO Tron set might be like. The 2 x 2 flat, inverted radar dishes common to many LEGO sets would make very fine identity discs, and LEGO minifigs done out in black, gray, and fluorescent blue or red would make excellent miniature "programs." LEGO light cycles would be the next logical step, followed by LEGO tanks and recognizers.

Time will have to tell whether LEGO and Disney decide to offer a LEGO Tron series. But the pairing of LEGO and Tron would make for a good strategic partnership and an exciting series of LEGO sets for joint fans of LEGO and Tron.
