Yummy Food Memories

Thinking back to one of my favorite food memories, I recall a college party I attended back in the late 1970's. When I was working on my bachelor's degree, I attended a small liberal arts college in the Midwest called Principia College. It was located in a little village called Elsah in Illinois. The college was located at the top of a hill next to the Mississippi Bluffs. You could actually see East St. Louis across the river.

There were only 850 students who attended that college at the time. They didn't have sororities or fraternities. Instead, they had a house that you belonged to. The house was like a built-in sorority or a built-in fraternity.

My house was called Lowrey House. Our mascot was the gnu. For initiation, we Lowreyites had to wear a cow bell around our neck for a day or two. We had a house Mom and a house Pop (a husband and wife team) who would mentor us and occasionally hold parties or functions to which every girl in the house was invited.

Occasionally, our house would host a party to which every girl could invite a guest. One night, we had a party where they provided the most delicious desserts. I was so impressed with how delicious these desserts were and begged to get the recipe. I couldn't believe it when they revealed the secret as these desserts gave you the impression that they must have labored in the kitchen for hours.

You may be amazed as I am when you try the recipe for yourself. You can use either ice cream or yogurt. Either way you go, I believe you will find this dessert to be a real treat.
