Lenny's Sub Shop: Millington, TN

This review is based on a visit that occurred on March 22, 2011, at 4:50 PM. This Lenny's is located at 8265 Hwy 51 North in Millington, Tennessee 38053. Their telephone number is 901-873-4221. The city of Millington is located approximately 20-25 minutes from North Memphis. It is located right next to Cole's Home Solutions and Sherwin-Williams.

I was introduced to Lenny's approximately a year ago. I have some friends who live in Marion, Arkansas, and they took me there one night to get a sandwich. I have eaten at Lenny's probably 6-7 times in many different locations and I have never been disappointed. The service may not always be stellar but the sandwich makes up for any lacking qualities.

This particular Lenny's has 10 booths that seat at least 4 people to each booth. There are also 4 tables with 6 chairs at each table. There were 2 TVs and each was on CNN. The sweet tea, at least on the outside, is Luzianne Real Southern Iced Tea. It should be noted that there is no drive through at this location.

On this occasion I was doing a carry out order for me and one additional person. I ordered the number 1 on wheat bread. This is the classic sub. I get it with everything except for onions, tomatoes, and hot pepper relish. I also add ranch to it. You can get each sub in two different sizes (regular or large). I always order the regular and it fills me up each time. This sub comes with provolone cheese, ham, and capicola. I have ordered this sub on each trip to Lenny's and it has never failed to satisfy.

The person eating with me ordered the number 12. This is the grilled chicken Philly. It comes with grilled onions, chicken Philly, and Swiss American cheese. Despite the fact that I have never ordered this sandwich, I have had a few bites on different occasions and it is very good. My guest absolutely loves this sandwich. I am not a huge fan of the hot pepper relish but I know many people that absolutely love it. The person eating with me put hot pepper relish on their grilled chicken Philly and they said it was amazing.

The classic sub is $5.50 and the grilled chicken Philly is $6.75. On this occasion I did not order any chips or drinks. We do normally make it a meal deal but not on this trip. The ranch that I asked for on my sandwich was $0.50. The sub total of the ticket was $12.75. Our real sub total was actually $8.75 because we were able to get $4.00 off because of a coupon on the back of the Kroger receipt. If you shop at Kroger be sure and keep your receipt because on the back is great deals from Lenny's and IHOP. The coupon for Lenny's reads like this, "Buy 1 Regular Sub or Salad, Get 1 Regular Sub or Salad for $1.50." So my classic sub went from $5.50 to $1.50. It really is a great coupon. Once tax was included ($0.81), the grand total of our two sandwiches was $9.56.

Lenny's is an absolutely delicious restaurant when you want a sandwich and you are in a hurry but you do not want fast food.
