Lenovo X 201 ThinkPad Tablet/Netbook Review: Looks like a Netbook & Acts like a Tablet
Is This Lenovo Netbook/Tablet PC Deserving of Its Price?
The ThinkPad X Series 210 Tablet is not a tablet, per se. Well, it is, but it is not... I know, confusing, isn't it? OK, let me try to explain. The ThinkPad X Series 201 has a keyboard and a touchscreen, multitouch at that. It opens and closes just like a regular netbook or laptop does. However, if you want to, you can twist the display around and fold the keyboard underneath it to use it as a tablet computer. Do you get it?
Portability & Usability
Let us start with the size and portability of the Lenovo ThinkPad X Series Tablet. If you are worried about the battery life of such a small computer, you need not worry about it with this computer as it promises a battery life of 3.5 hours using a 4-cell battery or up to 7.9 hours using a battery twice that size.
If you will be using your computer away from your desk, or away from anywhere in which you have no access to a power outlet for an extended period, you can rest assured that the battery life of the Lenovo ThinkPad 201 Tablet will work well for you. Of course, there are always workarounds in which the settings can be adjusted to make the battery last longer if needed.
Weighing in at less than 4 pounds, the Lenovo ThinkPad X Series Tablet is a small, sleek computer that packs a big punch. Even when using the larger battery, it still weighs less than four pounds, so carrying it on the shoulder is not a problem.
Storage Choices
These days, with all the computer programs available and the way business people use their memory so quickly, you want a computer with a lot of memory space. This Lenovo ThinkPad X Series Tablet/Netbook gives the user the option of different storage sizes including:
• 250GB 5400 RPM SATA Hard Disk drive
• 320GB 5400 RPM SATA Hard Disk Drive
• 320GB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Disk Drive
• 500GB 7000 RPM SATA Hard Disk Drive
• 250GB 7200 RPM SATA Full Disk Encryption Hard Disk Drive
In addition to these hard disk drive options, ThinkPad 201 also offers a choice of two solid-state drives, 80GB and 128GB. The ThinkPad also offers a choice of RAM options, from 1GB to 8GB of RAM. It is always a good idea to base your choice of hard drives on what you will primarily e doing with the netbook. In addition, may people will opt for solid-state drives for their lack of moving pieces and parts, which means there is less chance of them breaking.
Lenovo on the Go
Since many of you will be using your Lenovo ThinkPad X Series Tablet on the go, you want to make sure that it is convenient as a mobile computer. It has a variety of options and features that not only help make it mobile but also help you to be able to customize the computer to your needs.
You can use a digitizer pen or touchscreen with the Lenovo ThinkPad X Series 201. The 12.1-inch LED WXGA screen can be changed from its SuperBright outdoor mode to high resolution to wide viewing angle, depending on what you like or where you will be using it. It also has a mobile dock and offers you a wide variety of connectivity options for Wi-Fi use including Bluetooth, ThinkPad's own Wireless BGN, and a choice of four Intel Centrino Wireless adapters, including one with WiMax compatibility.
Overall
As for extras, the ThinkPad 201 also has a camera, ExpressCard slot, five in one card reader with a modem and a three in one card reader without a modem. It truly has something for everyone. All of these features work well with the small size and large memory space to make the Lenovo ThinkPad X Series 201 Netbook/Tablet the perfect computer for those of you who will be using your computer on the go as well as those of you who are looking for a computer with innovative technology for your office. Overall, definitely worthy of the Lenovo name and pricing.
