Leonardo DiCaprio's Bodyguards Arrested in Israel
Police Arrested Two Members of Leonardo DiCaprio's Security Team in Israel After an Incident with Photographers in Jerusalem on Monday
Two of his security guards were arrested by police after participating in a fight that broke out; an Israel Police spokesperson told the local newspaper Haaretz.
DiCaprio who is 32, and his girlfriend model Bar Refaeli who is 21 were touring the western wall tunnels in the old city of Jerusalem, Haaretz reports.
According to the police spokesperson, a crowd of photographers were waiting outside the tunnels when the fight occurred.
Photographs of DiCaprio show his head down and face covered with a black hat while they shuffled into a white van which sped away.
They also visited the Holocaust memorial which was closed off to other visitors. Large amounts of photographers were present trying to snap a few photos of the couple, but were not allowed.
Rafaeli's mother said in a statement, "We are saddened by this incident and that instead of being proud of the fact that Leo came to see the Jewish heritage the photographers are dealing with unimportant issues. In spite of that, we are having a wonderful time and so is Leo".
The couple who has been together for nearly a year, arrived to much fanfare by the Israeli Media because one of their local girls Rafaeli had obtained one of Hollywood's most eligible men.
"They arrived on Sunday morning and her father Rafi was in the car that took them from a private exit in the airport to the family home," Swissa says. "Leo was in the front with the baseball hat and Bar was the back and both were hiding from all of the photographers outside the house."
The couple attempted to fly quietly into Israel on Sunday, but their flight from Germany contained a group of Israeli entertainment reporters on their way back from a press junket in Ireland, according to the Associated Press.
Rafaeli's home was covered by photographers and a TV host even rented a helicopter to cover the story from above.
DiCaprio and Rafaeli are expected to leave the Middle East for home on Tuesday. "All of Israel is very exited about having Leo here," says Swissa.
