Leoni Meadows Summer Camp, a beautiful retreat center in the Sierra Mountains, is located in Grizzly Flats just outside of Sacramento. It is about two hours away from South Lake Tahoe. Leoni Meadows is owned and operated by the Northern California Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.

While they do offer their center to Christian organizations, church groups, and youth groups and also host family reunions, field trips, weddings, and outdoor school programs, the crown jewel of their offerings is their Summer camp program.

PROGRAMS

Leoni Meadows offer a wide variety of programs, you are sure to find a Summer program that will delight each of your children - even if yours are like mine and they often don't agree on anything!

Programs are designed to accommodate different age groups so that children are placed in an age appropriate situation with their peers. A wide variety of ages can be placed between 8 and 17 years old.

Some of the programs include:

Advanced aquatics Camp - Improve your slalom skiing, wakeboard tricks, and/or barefooting. Limited to 12-16 year old campers.

Aquatics Camp - Wakeboard. Sleep under the stars by a lake. Flip over an inner tube. Kneeboard. Waterski. Work on your tan. For campers who are 12-16 years old.

Basketball Camp - Dribble. Shoot. Rebound. Pass. Block. Work as a team. Live in Base Camp cabins and go to great campfires. Take your game to the next level. For campers who are 10-12 years old

Cowboy (or girl) Camp- Saddle up. Sleep in a covered wagon. Ride, ride, ride. Pack on an overnighter and sleep under the stars. For boys and girls who are 10-16 years old.

Indian Camp - Stitch moccasins. Throw a tomahawk. Shoot a bow and arrow. Walk silently through the woods. Live in a teepee. For campers who are 8-12 years old.

Junior Camp - Try it all at Junior Camp! High ropes challenge course, go karts, swimming in the pond, the "blob", dirt dawgs, leap of faith, team challenge course, train rides. For campers who are 10-12 years old.

RC Airplanes - Want to fly an airplane? Radio control airplanes can help you learn about flying, airplane design and mechanics. For campers who are 13-16 years old.

Other Camps include: Rock Climbing, Teen Extreme, Tweens, Soccer, Volley Ball, Wilderness and Wrangler.

TO ENROLL

To register for camp you have two options. You can open, print and mail your completed application or you can register online and receive a $5 discount. Visit their web site at http://www.leonimeadows.org/ and click on the link that says "Online Registration - Summer Camp 2008 OPEN" to be taken to a list of programs. Click on the program you want and you will be given a link to the application for that program.

You will also have to fill out a Health Information Form for each chld in attendance. A link to that is provided in the documents section. It asks for basic as well as specific information about your child's health needs. A Health Consent and release form is also included with this form.

COST

One week programs average between $326 and $388 with only the horse packing trip costing $450 a week. Discounts are given for multiple weeks stays. Early registration discounts are also offered. One way and round trip bus rides are available as well as camp T-shirts and other Camp items. These extra items can be ordered at the time of enrollment.
