Leopold Restaurant Opens

My wait is finally over. Leopold, located at 1450 West Chicago Avenue in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood, opened on January 4, 2011. I was hoping to have lunch there with my co-workers, but we found out that it opens at 5:00 p.m. After a phone call to Leopold, I also found out that they will eventually add brunch service to their offerings as well.

Anyway, on January 6, 2011, my boyfriend and I decided to check it out, since I was unable to lunch there. We got there about 6 p.m. and found it to be pretty big, with seating available for about 100. Also, as soon as you walk in, there's a cute, cozy lounge, where you could relax before dinner.

My boyfriend was excited about the Belgian beer choices, but I was looking forward to the food. My boyfriend ordered the steak tartar for $13, which was served with an egg yolk, salad, a mustard-type dressing and toast. He also got the classic frites for $5. I got the braised short ribs and mixed greens, which was indescribably delicious. The ribs were so soft and tender and the greens were very fresh.

I sure hope they decide to add a lunch hours, but if not, I'll be happy just to enjoy an amazing dinner.
