A leotard is usually worn by most dancers, and for a long time many of the garments used by dancers were very awkward and prevented freedom of movement. Today, modern clothing items are available to make performers look good and perform to the best of their ability in much greater comfort. A Leotard can make a great base for a highly effective dance costume because they are formfitting. This allows the visibility of the dancer's body. For anyone new to dancing lessons, purchasing a basic leotard is probably the wisest option. This usually proves to be the most cost effective option and allows a dancer to concentrate on mastering their moves, which in dance is the quickest way to succeed!
Leotards offer huge potential when it comes to the range of materials and colors used. Choosing a material that is right for you should be one of the first things on your mind.. Of all the materials used in leotards, many have advantages over others. Cotton and Lycra blends offer very good stretch and support. This is a great help for dancers to be able to stretch and bend without cumbersome discomfort or getting in the way. Leotards must also help the dancer to keep cool, and modern materials used in their production help to wick away perspiration from the skin for extra comfort. Color has a direct impact on the audience's emotions. Cotton and Lycra are available in a wide variety of colors, so they can be used to either contrast or harmonize with the themes explored by the dance. Leotard colors are used to express certain emotions as well as temperature. For example, red is used to express anger and green is supposed to represent envy. Violet creates a cold feeling whereas orange evokes a feeling of warmth.
Take care to find out what leotard you need. It really helps to know what you're looking for and to take the time to make sure it will fit. When you find the right one, you're sure to be dancing in comfort!
