Leporiphobia

Z.J. Ascensio
I see you there

Sitting in your throne like the king of the mall

I don't know why

Every year we have this same call

Stand in line

Feet start to hurt, palms to sweat

Babies are crying

Parents are shoving, bad as it gets

Getting closer

The music's louder the nearer I am

Peter Cottontail

Sounds so cheerful, but I don't give a damn

I know I'm next

My heart is pounding, I start to freak

I want to run

Suddenly I hear my mother speak:

Z, it's your turn, go sit with Easter Bunny

Quit acting up, you'll ruin this, honey

You know I hate it when you make me waste money

And it was $5.99 for a pic with this bunny!

SO SMILE!

Awww! We don't really do the Easter bunny thing too much here but I can understand why sitting on the lap of a huge rabbit would be scary *lol*

We don't have him here. Love to see him!

When I was a kid, I celebrated Easter (I no longer do so), and I was taken to sit on the Easter Bunny's knee. I could see inside the hole for his eye. I turned toward the camera and made a hideous, ugly face. I knew the whole thing was a fraud. Why do parents lie to their kids? Not only is the easter bunny a lie, it is false to Christianity. It is a symbol of sexual fertility associated with pagan rites.

No one does it better than my favorite artist, Mark Ryden. Google his painting, "The Cloven Bunny" I'm sure you'll get a kick out of it, even if lowbrow art is not your thing.

The ending, with the scream, just adds hilarity to an absurd practice that is yet required. Well-done!

I have to agree with Mike on this one!

Nice poem! Sorry it was so traumatic, but all parents need cute pictures of their darlings with the Easter bunny!

Cute ... with the right backing music, scratching to "Peter Cottontail" or similar sappy easter music, this could be a rap song.

Now that is just too cute and funny!
