Lesson Learned

There are some things I feel like I will never understand.
Life has taught me a few lessons this week
None of them were wanted or welcomed
But they came anyway.
I guess you can't really stop them:

Fuck your friend over.
It's even better if you fuck over a group of them.
Knowing they wont stick up for themselves,
You'll get exactly what you want.
Respect is a privilege, not a necessity.
And peoples emotions are there to play with.
Besides, you can always move on
When someone becomes less than enough.

And while you're at it
Crush a dream.
Who cares if dreams are all that keep us going sometimes.
Who cares if dreams make us who we are.
We all know harsh reality will always win.
So, why try to begin with? Convince them to give up.
If you say the right words, they just might give in.

Why don't you add a little flavor?
Add something new. Add something fun.
Add something that never happened
Because you're so damn cunning.
No one will figure it out. They never do.
You have nothing to lose.
Nothing could go wrong.

And then maybe
Just maybe
You should pour your heart out
Let it drip to the floor
Soaking the tile with every ounce of passion you have
And watch it go unrecognized and unacknowledged
Just so that you can feel
Like you wish you never said anything at all.
Because somehow it's better to wonder if you're loved
Then know that you aren't.
