Lesson Learned From Using a Cell Phone While Driving

In many states it is illegal to talk on your cell phone and drive. This is because it takes your concentration off the road and indecent people, such as myself, are caught in the cross fire. Yes, I have been in a car accident where the other driver was using their cell phone and not paying any attention. I can also vouch that before this accident I did the same thing but I have learned to only talk or text when I am not driving.

Now, before my accident I used to talk on the phone like it was going out of style. I would text add phone numbers, with the radio blaring and not concentrating on my driving. Once I got my first ticket I turned the music down and paid attention to where I was going, but I didn't stop with the cell phone. When you look down to your phone you don't realize if your car is moving into the next line or if the cars in front of you are hitting the brakes or of some jerk just cut you off. When you do realize it it's way too late to do anything to prevent an accident.

My experience wasn't one where anybody was really hurt but I was very mad at the other driver and I was out of my car for 2 weeks and had to deal with the car insurance people, which wasn't fun either.

So here I was just driving down the road trying to find this ice cream place I was supposed to meet my then boyfriend at. This guy is on his cell phone and serving all over the place, in and out of my lane the works. So I lay on my horn since he was in front of me and he seems to be okay for a little bit. I pass him just in case and he is flipping me off while he is on the phone, mid you no hands on the wheel. I have my window down and am yelling to get off the phone. I turn and don't pay attention to this guy until I find the place and realize he is parking in the same parking lot.

Now after an hour or so I get back into my car to leave and am slowly leaving the crowed parking lot when this car starts whips out of a parking spot without looking and rams into the passenger side of my car. He walks out yelling at me while he is on his phone and guess who it is? Yep, the same guy I yelled at earlier! Not only was this accident his fault he got in trouble for being on his phone.

His insurance paid for my car but I was out of my car and in a crappy rental for almost 2 weeks. On top of that his insurance sky rocketed, insurance companies hate reckless drivers which is what he was and probably still is.
