Lesson of Nature: A Poem

Scott Bauer
The archer nocked his shaft and feather

Sighting in his foe

Clad in only flesh and leather

Stalking out the doe

Long had he waited

Patiently for the deer

The only part he hated

Being silent and still to hear

The doe moved from the bush

Eating cautiously content

The bowman quivered, his face went flush

Her eyes began to lament

Nature's child, virgin and pure

Turned her gracious head

Pleading eyed for pity's cure

More than nothing was said

Noses met, thoughts were passed

The "beast" frolicked off

The hunter remained until the sun's last

Thankful for this friend lost.
