Lessons from Living
I've learned there's a difference
Between relaxed and lazy,
A hard worker and a work-o-holic.
Between work-friends and true-friends,
Best-friends and sometimes-friends.
I've learned that sometimes
It's worth the extra gas to use the AC,
And worth the time to clip the coupons.
That sometimes a penny saved is not a penny earned,
And one penny spent easily leads to more the spending of more.
I've learned there's a difference
Between dedicated and obsessed,
Selfish and self-centered.
Between self-protecting and self conscious,
Self-promoting and self-absorbed.
I've learned that sometimes
It's worth it to swim upstream,
And equally heroic to float with the current.
That you can't always catch a bee with honey,
And words, not actions, are sometimes what you really need.
