Let's Have Breakfast in the Park

Dave Otero
You wake up on Saturday morning all hot and sweaty from the sticky night before. Instead of getting up and going through the repetitive morning chores, you decide it's time for an idea you have been thinking about for some time now; let's have breakfast in the park. This is a fantastic way to beat the summer heat and have your outdoor fun early in the cool freshness of the morning. It all starts with the idea of not being stuck indoors on a stinking hot day. You will need to pack a simple, yet nutritious and wholesome breakfast, including plenty of muffins, muesli, yogurt, fruit, and juice boxes, as well as water. To make the morning more pleasant you can always invite some of your closest friends and their families, and head off to the nearest park.

Just let the kids run around and play on the play equipment, or pack a cricket bat, some cricket stumps, and a few tennis balls. Beach cricket is a great tradition, with its own unique set of rules. Now is a great time to sit back with your spouse, and friends, and have a good bonding session that will really help cement the ties of your friendships. If you prefer, you can use this opportunity to join in on the beach cricket, or just play some great outdoor games. If there is a lake, it would be a good idea to pack some swimmers and towels for you and your family, and you can then enjoy some water sports, and, at the same time you can cool down.

Tennis balls, or beach balls are great for this sort of sporting activity. So, now we have turned breakfast in the park into a great family and friends get-together; an activity that is enjoyed by all present. It gets you out of the house (and its associated heat), and lets you not only have breakfast in the park, but a really great social interaction time between you and your family, and you and your friends. This is an idea that, if possible, should be acted upon at least twice a month, or at a regular interval, as it reinforces the values you place on, firstly your family, and secondly, your friends.
