LET'S BUY a FAN

Kathryn Neff Perry

My husband planned to work on golf clubs out in the shed. Since we live in Florida I suggested it might be a little warm out there.

He said, "I don't think so, there's a breeze, I'll just keep the door open, and in fact I'll open both the windows".

Sounds great, but the temperature is already 83 and the humidity is high due to impending storms this afternoon.

I continued working on several projects of my own, inside an air conditioned office. He came in and out making comments about the weather.

Earlier he talked about yard work, which I quickly talked him out of. And that's probably when he decided working on his golf clubs "inside the shed" would be a better idea.

Finally after about an hour of coming inside and going back outside, he sat on the love seat in my office. He pulled off his cap and wiped his face.

"You know," he said, "I read just the other day that you need to have fans too. Air conditioning isn't enough with the Florida heat. He said, "We should go buy fans."

I smiled and walked over to the switch on the wall, engaging the ceiling fan.

"You know honey, we have ceiling fans in every room, we just need to turn them on." I smiled.

I'm not sure what he called me, but he walked back out to the shed.
