"Sally":
This board book is written by Frank Berrios and is illustrated by the Disney Storybook Artists. Let me start with the illustrations. They were done wonderfully. They look just like the cars from the actual movie. The book shows all of the characters from the movie, Sally, Luigi, Guido, Filmore, Ramone, the visitors, Sarge, Police car, Mater, Doc, and of course McQueen. The story in the book explains how Sally ended up in the town of Radiator Springs and owns the Cozy Cone Motel. Sally explains that she used to be an attorney in a big city but she wasn't happy. She took a drive but broke down along the way. She broke down in Radiator Springs and fell in love with the small town so much that she decided to stay. McQueen also finds himself in Radiator Springs. At first he hates it and can't wait to leave, he is a famous racecar and wanted to go back to the big race. He ends up falling in live with Sally and the small town and ends up staying their as well.
"Lightning McQueen":
This board book is written by Frank Berrios and is illustrated by the Disney Storybook Artists. This book explains how Lightning McQueen is a famous race car and he loves to win. After he broke down in Radiator Springs he couldn't wait to leave. The irony of the story is that he also ends up loving this small town and decided to stay. The illustrations show McQueen racing in the beginning and then taking slow drives with his new love Sally.
"Mater":
This board book is written by Frank Berrios and is illustrated by the Disney Storybook Artists. How could you not love Mater. He is my son's first favorite character from the movie. Mater is an old broken down tow truck but turns out to be McQueen's new best friend. Mater first introduces himself to McQueen when he gets impounded. They turn out to be best friends and they go tractor tippin' together and Mater teacher McQueen how to drive backwards. If you watched the movie, you would see that McQueen actually needs to drive backwards in his big race. The illustrations once again are great. You really can grasp the feeling from the movie.
"Doc Hudson":
This board book is written by Frank Berrios and is illustrated by the Disney Storybook Artists. Doc Hudson is the judge and the doctor in the small town of Radiator Springs. The book explains that he used to be a famous racecar but after a crash, the racing world turned it's back on him. He builds a life in the small town and does not like McQueen when he first ends up in the small town. After McQueen proves himself, Doc likes him and teaches him a few racing tips.
In Conclusion
I really enjoyed reading these books to my son. He loves to look at the pictures and call out the names of his favorite car characters. Each book is only about 6 pages long. I like the board book design. This makes it a sturdier book for my son to read over and over again. I don't have to worry about him wearing it out or ripping the pages. When your child is finished reading the books, he/she can neatly pack them back in the box set it comes with and carry it to clean it up. This is an extremely convenient design, I love it!
