Lets Make the Earth a Promise

Charles B Reynolds
I love the earth. I mean, heck, I live here. It's not like I can just pack up and move because the neighbors have some junk scattered all over their lawn, cars up on blocks and some of them party all night or shoot off guns on the 4th of July. And if the smell gets too bad, it's tough lucky, ducky.

But I am also not going to whine because the neighbor's barbeque pit puts up a little more smoke than I would like. No matter how many petitions get circulated.

In other words, the whole climate change thing is distracting from the real issues. I mean, get real people. In the Pacific Ocean there is something that has been named the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. But everyone is so busy debating if man is causing the change in carbon dioxide levels or if the earth is going through a natural change and we just have to deal with it. They are devoting a ton of time and effort going back and forth, proving and disproving questionable science findings.

But what are they doing about the things that are actually choking the planet? Nada! Is anyone spending billions to come up with solutions to the Garbage Patch? Noooo. They are spending billions debating weather.

Are they devoting time and effort and money on coming up with an alternative to oil, batteries, real pollutants like chromium and Bisphenol A? Nope. They are taxing people's carbon dioxide (which is what we breathe out) and methane (what cows fart out).

This really seems quite, well I was going to say backwards, but even that direction is wrong to describe the lack of common sense involved in "doing right by the planet."

So, in this vein, I am making a promise to the earth.

Hey, Earth, Charles here. I promise to teach my children and grandchildren what to really do to get results in doing right by you. I am going to tell them, and everyone else I can reach, that they need to take personal responsibility for how they treat you. And that they need to take an initiative to let others know they need to do the things that truly keep you healthy.

Let's start by getting those in charge to work on clearing out the Garbage Patch. Later.

    Making promises isn't hard... It's the keeping of them that is :-}
