Let's Be Friends

Robin Jessie-Green
Do you remember me from way back when?

A long time ago

We used to be friends

I said some things you thought were rude

They were uncalled for, hurtful and crude.

I miss you, and I wish to apologize

For being inconsiderate, thoughtless and unkind.

You were a friend I held dear

And quite often I've hoped to bring you near

Please accept this gesture of sincere expression

With confidence and little hesitation

We've wasted so much time I fear

I do not want to lose our friendship

to estrangement another year.

I had not considered your point of view

And did not intend to hurt you

When people see me they say,

It looks as if I've lost my best friend.

I tell them it looks this way

because I have, it's true

I've lost my friend from way back when

And hope that one day soon

My best friend will return again

And our friendship will resume.

Well done. Hopefully the lost friendship will be mended and return to its beautiful roots again.

You've found the perfect words that fail so manya of us who find ourselves in this position. People go through changes, doesn't mean they have to l ose each other for a lifetime. Nicely done.
