"Let's Be Friends!": A Web site Blog With Cute Animal Pictures

Phillip Chan
Images of animals in loving (supposedly) relationships with other animals, not just of their own kind, have caught the interest of humans for years. After all, how adorable is a picture of a cat and dog kissing, or a rabbit nuzzling a monkey? Cute, right? Perfect for that, "Aww....how sweet" moment of tender reflection and thoughtful smiles.

"Let's be Friends" is a website, or more specifically, a blog which features images and photos of cute animals and creatures cuddling, and hanging around each other, that normally would not be found together. The sub title on the Blogger.com hosted website for "Let's be Friends" is "If they can do it, then so can we", pointing to the idea of if animals who normally would never even approach each other, but are shown hugging and playing together, can become 'friends', than humans who spend so much time fighting should be able to put aside their differences and find common ground.

It's a sweet concept, and I'll admit, the pictures are pretty touching. Not exactly a very manly thing to say, but the website does a good job showing off some very cute pictures of animals being 'friends.' For instances, take a look at some examples of the images found on this site. There is a monkey hugging a cat, a kitten sitting two ducklings, a tiny mouse hitching a ride with a smiling frog, a cat and a turtle that the cat watches over, a parrot guarding a mouse with its wing, and a mouse sitting with a snake. Throughout all the pictures, one theme remains: animals being 'friends' with each other.

The website, hosted by the incredibly popular (and now owned by Google) Blogger.com blog website, has a lot of pictures, dating all the way back to September 17, 2004. It's really a nice library of animals in cute poses, and has a lot of them on the site. Readers and viewers can email in images they find, and the creator of the site will post them if he likes it. They are linked to several other 'cute' animal websites, all showing various happy animals guaranteed to make you go 'aww..." However, are these images real? Most of them look pretty real, and I believe they are. A few I've seen scattered around the rest of the Internets, and a few of them look really staged. The ducks and the kitten look quite staged, but they still make for a cute picture. I was a little skeptical at first, but "Let's be Friend's" is really a cute idea, making up for a great website. Check it out if you would like to see some really good, cute pictures of animals that will probably leave you with a smile on your face.
