Let's Take Care of Home

The United States of America is one of the greatest countries on earth. It is one of the few countries where a person's dream can actually become reality. The United States is one of the most powerful countries in the world. When our government leaders speak the world listens; the United States in many cases has set standards for the rest of the world to follow. Although this country has overcome many obstacles such as world wars, failed economy, and deadly pandemics yet it still is far from perfect.

For years the United States has had a bad habit of interfering in other countries affairs. There is nothing wrong with forming diplomatic alliances with other countries but sometimes the assistance given seems to be excessive. I have always believed in the maxim that you should never help another man build his house before you have built yours first. There are people in this country that are homeless, jobless, and hopeless. We should first take care of the people in this country, and then we can offer our assistance to others. Each year this country spends millions of dollars on foreign aid. Many countries have come to the United States for assistance whether it was financial bailouts or allied war efforts. When the United States needs help who is coming to our aid?

The United States economy is in the worst condition that it has every been since the Great Depression. Many of its citizens are losing their homes at a rapid rate. Instead of countries offering assistance with the failing housing market many countries are purchasing foreclosed real estate here for their own personal gain. I see this as an act of blatant disrespect to a country that has always given to others unselfishly. The United States cannot police the world. We need to focus on solving our own problems. If the United States continues to divert is attention away from its own citizens to help other countries there is a strong possibility that we may longer be a super power, but will become sole dependent on foreign aid that we most likely will not receive.
