Arts and Crafts Activities for the Letter T

Make tiny trees by pressing small twigs into balls of green clay. Form the clay around the twig so the tree stands upright on the table. Glue pieces of popped popcorn to the branches to make blossoms.

Make turtles using small, green plastic plates. Cut a head, four legs, and a tail out of green construction paper and glue to the edge of the plate. Let dry and turn over. Use markers to draw two eyes on the turtle's head and toes on its feet.

Early Math and Science Activities for the Letter T

Work in pairs to build a tower of blocks. Have the children count the blocks as they put each new block on the top and see if they can beat their previous record.

Invite a dentist or hygienist to come and give a short talk about teeth. Request a demonstration on how to brush teeth properly.

Have a treasure hunt for the kids. Leave a couple of clues the kids need to follow in order to find the map. Draw a map of the school and make an X where the treasure is hidden. The treasure can be a shoe box filled with stickers or bags of fruit snacks.

Place several strips of wide masking tape on the wall and measure how tall everyone is. Leave the tape on the wall and remeasure everyone at the end of the year to see how much they have grown.

Snack Ideas for the Letter T

Have a taco bar. Give each child a taco shell with a little bit of meat filling. Provide bowls of shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, sliced olives, shredded cheese, sour cream, and mild salsa to put in their taco.

Let the class try different products made out of tomatoes. Include tomato juice, ketchup, spaghetti or pizza sauce, fresh tomatoes, sun dried tomatoes, and tomato pesto. Use crackers or small pieces of bread to taste the tomato products on, except for the ketchup. Provide tater tots or cut up hot dogs for that tasting.
