Letter from a Lost Customer

I'm no longer your customer. I know, you probably haven't noticed that I'm gone. After all, you didn't seem to notice me all the times I was there. After all, I don't spend a lot of money at one time.

Last time I walked in your business, you paid more attention to the person next to me who was spending $50, while I was spending my usual $10. Doesn't seem to matter that I have been coming into your business every week for the past few years to spend $10, every week without fail. It's not even the first time that you largely ignored me because someone else was spending more. Maybe it's my own fault for not demanding more attention from you.
Last time I was there was just a little different. I was looking for something else which costs $100 in addition to my usual $10. I didn't find it, though you probably have what I was looking for. You were too busy with the person spending $50 to ask if I needed anything else.

So, I walked across the street to your competitor and found what I was looking for. While I was there, I found the item I've been spending $10 a week on is only $9 there. When I went to pay, they asked me how I was doing and if I needed anything else. Since they were so nice and I will now need both items on a weekly basis, I've been shopping there.

Oh, I also told my brother about the new place I'm shopping. He owns his own business and now he's shopping there, too. He spends about $1000 a week, I think. I know his friends spend more than that but we tend to keep things simple. Some of my friends have gone shopping with me there and said they will go back, too. They said they get much better service than they did at your place. Now it seems my employer is looking for a contract for some of the items which both of you offer. He was were impressed with the service, so he's chosen your competitor.

So, maybe you haven't noticed that I'm gone. Funny thing is that your competitor has noticed that I am there. I guess my $10 just wasn't enough to get your attention. Too bad.
