"Letters to God" Movie Promises to Deliver Message of Hope

From faith-based film Producer David Nixon of "Fireproof" (2008) and "Facing the Giants" (2006) fame, comes a new story of hope, love, redemption and one eight-year-old boy's struggle to overcome a deadly bout with an incurable brain cancer.

On April 9, "Letters to God" will debut in over 750 theaters nationwide. By this time, the film will have already undergone countless screenings by pastors and other various church leaders and Christian authors around the world.

David Nixon, along with Possibility Pictures and distributor Vivendi Entertainment, is praying that these screenings will encourage individuals to spread the word about the film's story and heartfelt message.

While battling his life threatening condition, Tyler Doherty (child actor Tanner Maguire), begins writing on a daily basis personal prayers to God in the form of letters. For Tyler, God is "a friend, a teacher and the ultimate pen pal," according to the film's official story synopsis.

The letters eventually fall into the hands of local postman Brady McDaniels (actor Jeffery S. Johnson), who soon befriends Tyler and the entire Doherty family, including his gentle mother (actress Robyn Lively), brave grandmother (Maree Cheatham) and teen brother Ben (Michael Christopher Bolten). Suffering from his own troubles, which include the loss of his son and a battle with alcoholism, Brady is ultimately inspired by Tyler's courage and seeks to better his life.

Not only has the film graced the entertainment and missions pages of several Christian news sites, including "The Christian Post" and CBN.com, but it is continuing to receive high praise from pre-screeners.

Ted Baehr of Movieguide.orgpraised "Letters to God" as "well written, entertaining, heart-rending, and inspiring. The dialogue is edgy and drives the story forward. The production quality is first rate. There is even great attention to the music, which is usually forgotten in low-budget productions. "Letters to God" is the type of movie you want everyone to see, one of the most encouraging and inspiring movies in a long time."

Melissa Ringstaff of AVirtuousWoman.org (A Proverbs 31 Ministry) attended a prescreening in Knoxville, TN alongside her husband and had the opportunity to meet with co-producer Kim Dawson. Dawson shared with her how the power of prayer on the set of the film greatly impacted the lives of the non-Christian crew members.

Ringstaff noted, "I love the subtitle of the movie: Hope is Contagious. Hope really is contagious. Because when we share our faith - when we share our hope in Jesus with those around us, others are affected and lives are changed."

But "Letters to God" isn't just about inspiration. The film's producers have also referred to it as a "mission." According to the Global Healing Center, one in three people contract cancer and one in four eventually die of the disease. Recent statistics show childhood leukemia and testicular and brain cancers peaking at an all time high.

"Letters to God" will offer hope and encouragement to individuals and families who face these heartbreaking struggles.

The film's Facebook page has already amassed over 30,000 fans and is being followed by well over 1,000 people via Twitter.

Screenings have already been held in Colorado, Georgia and Virginia, as well as several other states. If you wish to attend a VIP Church Screening of the film, you can register at the movie's official web site: www.LetterstoGodthemovie.com.
