Letting Go of Stress

The Way that I Let Go of All the Stress from Each Day

Liz Smith
How to get rid of stress? I don't think there is really anyway to completely get rid of stress, but there are so many methods to help you deal with most of it. All the methods work, but its just about finding what works for you as a person. My method may not work for everyone. For me it has never failed and I hope that everyone will give it a shot, especially if you have not found one that works for you yet. The way I deal with all my stress is by listening to music. Not just any music, but music that has a strong message behind it. Hearing those messages help me get through it all and to just learn to let it go. They teach me so many life lessons and that everyone else is also going through stressful times and some are worse than others. Music also helps because sometimes you listen to songs that are saying exactly how your feeling and you learn that your not the only one that feels that way. They help you face your feelings and sometimes even a way to deal with them. A way maybe you haven't thought about or a way you thought wouldn't work. Sometimes those messages can help you help a friend or family member that's going through a difficult time.

For me music helps with a whole lot of things. Music helps me think, keeps me calm, helps me concentrate and taught me how to tune things or people out when i need to. I even go to sleep with it on. It helps me realize that the little things don't matter and it's not worth my energy or time to worry about them. I know we all have different things or people that stress us out, but if it helps me maybe it will help someone else too.

I can't explain all that music does for me, but it has kept me from doing a lot of things that I would have regretted. A friend of mine said to me once that "I know with work being so crazy and everything going on in your personal life it has to get over whelming. You are amazing to handle things the way you do. I am always a mess who tries to hide it and keep going but you always seem to have it together. That is one of the many things that amazes me about you." She was right I do keep it together and it is always over whelming, but music is the reason why I am always calm and the reason I keep it together. My friends know how much music means to me and whether I am listening to it or singing to it each song is a message that is healing me. Each song helps me forget why I was upset or stressed in the first place and helps me start a new day.

One way to see if music does actually help you is by finding a few songs with a good message that relates to you. A message that makes you think about yourself or friends or even your life. A message that might even make you think about other people's lives or bigger problems than the ones your going through. They might even help you with solving your own problems or help you make a good decision. I don't know what it will do for you, but I do hope that if you give it a shot it will help. Even if it doesn't there are more ways to deal with stress you just have to find something your passionate about and go from there.

Here is a list of 20 songs that have helped me out. I know we all have different tastes in music, but try each of these songs if your up to it. Even if you don't like them just listen to the lyrics. Don't concentrate on the beat or singer just the lyrics. If you do that you might just hear the message and it might just help you even if it's just that second or they could teach you things. My top 20 songs are:

1. If Today Was Your Last Day by Nickleback....2. Broken by Lindsey Haun.....3. Hope and Prayer by Savannah....4. Gift of a Friend by Demi Lovato....5 Lift me Up by Kate Voegele....6. Fearless by Daechelle......7. Courage is... by The Strange Familiar......8. Rescue You by Jake Epstein.....9. Me out of Me by Alexz Johnson.....10. Higher Ground by Alexz Johnson.......11. Clear by The American Mall Cast........12. Lessons Learned by Carrie Underwood.......13. My Wish by Rascal Flatts........14. My Hero is You by Hayden Panettiere........15. A Whatever Life by Haylie Duff.......16. Who I Am by Jessica Andrews........17. Live Like Music by Kyle Riabko......18. I'm already There by Lonestar......19. Here We Go Again by Luke McMaster and Katie Zuccarelli......20. Blessed by Martina McBride

Those are my top 20 songs that have messages that I can either relate to or they help me with something that I am going through. I have so many more songs, but these are some of the main ones I can think about right now. Even if you think that music won't help just try a few of these songs and listen to the message. Maybe you will be surprised. Maybe it will change your life or your way at looking at things. Either way music helps me and I am so lucky to have found what works for me. Music is my method of letting go of my stress everyday I hope you find yours if music can't help you.
