I have read many testominies, and discussions on people , and their oppinions on this very matter. In general most of Diabetic persons are scared of insulin, because they do not know about it, or how to use it, or what it will do.
I read alot the first few months, and listened to doctors, and nurses. I was literally shaking the first few times I had to inject myself. I was not scared of pain, I was scared of the dosage and the medicine. I simply felt that once it entered my system, I had to let it choose the course I was taking. Not true.
In fact I felt better, had more energy, and felt a certain pressure relieved. I felt like I had everything under great control. No mood swings, no sleeplessness. No going to the toilet through out the night, often.
What was happening was my blood sugar was getting back into control.
On dose of Levemir, and I was covered for 24 hours. One dose a day.
Wonderful. I was more apt to keep up with Levemir dosing, than I was in keeping track of taking my diabetic pills. Seriously, sometimes I forgot when i had taken a pill, and once I scared the crap out of myself, by over doing a dosage. I waited in horror, waited for any side affects, but luckily none were reported.
I do like Levemir, and I like the fact it lasts 24 hours. I do get occasional bruising when giving myself injections in softer parts of my skin. but I am so pleased and grateful for the wisdom in the creators of this insulin. It works well, and I have had no side effects. It is a little miracle. It is good for someone like me who on occasion takes in too much of a bad substance, with sugar running out, of it. Haha
If you are a Diabetic, and you are comtemplating taking Levemir, or insulin in general, way your options, test your doctors knowledge, ask alot of questions. Get the facts, then get peace of mind, in knowing your blood sugar is on its way to getting under control.
Levemir, my little miracle.
