LG 30FS4D LCD HDTV Versus RCA R52WH77 Projection HDTV

Two Completely Different HDTV's, but Which One Will Fit You Best?

Monkeyman
The HDTV market has grown tremendously over the past couple of years, and I am here to give you an insight on two specific ones. The two TV's that I am going to be comparing are the RCA R52WH77 and the LG 30FS4D. The RCA is a 52" projection, HD ready TV. The LG is a 30" LCD HD ready TV. I have had the RCA for about 2 and a half years and the LG for about 6 months. I will be comparing both of these on their picture, sound, looks, and price.

I will start with the LG 30FS4D, as that is the one that I have recently purchased. It is 30 inches, LCD, has a 16:9 screen ratio, and is HD ready for 720p, which in my opinion looks about as good as 1080i. Words can't even describe the picture on this thing. It looks absolutely amazing for any sport, TV show, and even HD movies. While football looks great on this, it is primarily my gaming TV. I play Xbox 360 on this, and every single game looks great. Some people say they can't tell the difference between HD and standard for games, but this TV has completely proved that to be false. The sound on this thing makes you feel like you're there. I was completely blown away by this, because I usually hook the sound up to a better stereo system. However, for this TV, I don't need to do that. Now while the picture and the sound are amazing, the look and design of it is just flawless. It is a sleek black, with a small silver base. It is very thin, and could probably be hung on a wall if needed. It will fit in with any room design that you could possibly have. I bought the LG for about $450.

The other TV is the RCA R52WH77 It is 52 inches, projection, and is HD ready for 720p. The picture on this thing is great, especially for football season. This TV truly shines with football. With it being so big, it will make you feel like you're there. With this TV, I also don't feel the need to hook it up to a stereo system. It sounds perfectly fine by itself, and can get very loud. The only complaint I would have for this TV would be that it is pretty chunky. It is silver, and not very thin. However, it looks very nice with some furniture around it, but not by itself. I bought the RCA for about $900.

Overall, I love both of these TV's. I was fortunate enough to get both of these during major sales, which I feel is the best time to buy HDTV's. I highly recommend you wait for a big sale, and to be patient to wait for a good price. No one is forcing you to buy an HDTV, so be patient and wait for the best deal. I feel that you can't go wrong with either the LG or the RCA. However, if you are thinking about buying one of these TV's, you should think about what you would use it the most for. I am fortunate enough to have both TV's, but you might not be able to. So in choosing the TV that fits you best, I would go to say that the LG is better for HD gaming or HD movies, while the RCA looks best for sports. So if you are primarily a football guy, go with the RCA. With the big size, it makes you feel like you're there. If you are primarily a gamer, go with the LG. I promise you will not be disappointed with either of the TV's, especially for their price. I hope my comparison has been helpful, and good luck in finding an HDTV that fits you best!
