LG Refrigerator Problems that Could Send You to the Hospital

Casey Rhodes
Consumers everywhere are outraged at LG refrigerator problems that are causing burns and a potential fire hazard. The LG model LFC22760 refrigerator has come under fire after customers report that they have been burned by the unit's light bulb and were worried that it could have caught fire if they didn't catch the flaw in time.

Consumers state that the light bulb does not always turn off when the door is shut, causing the bulb to overheat to the point that the casing holding the light bulb turned black or that it actually melted the cover.

Gabe Kern, the Senior Staff Member at FrenchDoorRefrigeratorReviews.Com, stated "This is one of the most serious problems I've heard of in a while." Kern regularly reviews LG refrigerator problems and posts all the detailed research to the site for free so consumers can make an informed decision before making such a bad purchase. According to Kern, consumers are complaining of getting burned when they reached into the unit to grab items off the shelf. Once the problem was looked into by the consumers, they were apparently very concerned that the unit could have caught fire and possibly destroyed their homes.

On a lesser note, this particular problem also caused food to spoil much more rapidly because the overheating from the light made it impossible for the refrigerator to cool properly.

Loosing money because your food is spoiling, is one matter but when it comes to getting injured and having to worry about fire damage, well that's a whole different ballgame. And that is why outraged consumers are calling for a nation-wide recall.

Most of them feel that their cries have fallen on deaf ears however as they have not heard anything from the company. This has led many consumers to file complaints with Consumer Affairs and is the apparent cause of a class action lawsuit to filed in the State of New Jersey.

Kern stated that consumers can avoid serious LG refrigerator problems like this by visiting sites like his that give hardcore reviews on refrigerators and appliances and don't "sugar coat" the details in order to try to make a sale.

Great advice in my book. At minimum, you should do a quick search online for the particular make and model refrigerator you are considering purchasing to make sure there aren't any serious problems like this one. News spreads fast on the internet and this is one LG refrigerator problem you'll be glad you avoided.

We had the same problem with our French Door unit by LG. LG settled a lawsuit in November 2011 regarding this issue. You have 2 options. One, you can file a claim under the class action suit until November 2012 or you can call LG customer support and report the problem. For the claim option, they will reimburse you 200% of cost of repair if you have already had to repair the problem. Or if you prefer to wait (remove the light bulbs - use very thick sturdy gloves as they will be EXTREMELY HOT), call LG customer support and they will "cover the cost of repair under warranty" and arrange an appointment for you with a local LG-qualified repair shop. For claim info, go to www.mclennansettlement.com. Best of luck!
