Liam Hemsworth - Aussie Actor to Play Lead Role in the Next Twilight-style Movie

If Liam Hemsworth's next movie is a huge success, he will be on par with Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson who play werewolf Jacob Black and vampire Edward Cullen respectively in the Twilight films. The Australian actor has been cast as Gale Hawthorn in the sci-fi film adaptation of The Hunger Games, Part I in a trilogy of science-fiction novels for teens written by American author Suzanne Collins. His co-stars in the movie will be Jennifer Lawrence as lead character Katniss Everdeen and Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark.

The movie is tipped as being in the "Twilight" zone as far as appeal to teen movie goers. If Twilight's success is emulated by The Hunger Games, Liam Hemsworth will be a sure-fire international movie star.

There were the Baldwins - Alec, William and Steven ...now there are the Hemsworths - Chris, Liam and Luke!

Liam's older brother Chris is the star of Thor , the big-screen adaptation of the Marvel comic opening April 21. He also has upcoming roles in the remake of Red Dawn and the Joss Whedon-written and -produced horror-comedy The Cabin in the Woods . Chris recently married Spanish actress Elsa Pataky, one of the stars of Snakes on a Plane. Chris Hemsworth had a lead role in Home and Away before venturing to Hollywood to try for success.

Luke Hemsworth is also an actor with appearances in season one of Tangle. He will have to play catch-up if he is to emulate the success of his two brothers.

Liam is the notable ex-boyfriend of Miley Cyrus who holidayed in Australia with the Hemsworth family in January 2010. The on-again, off-again romance seems to be "on-again" with the news that Miley's parents, Billy Ray and Tish have patched up their differences and are "on-again" too.

Liam Hemsworth's Aussie soap roles

There are two very popular soaps in Australia - Neighbours and Home and Away. Neighbours features families who live in Ramsay Street in a Melbourne suburb. Home and Away is set at a fictitious beach town - Summer Bay - north of Sydney. These shows are extremely popular and long running, both having had their 21^st birthday.

Liam Hemsworth played paraplegic athlete Josh Taylor in Neighbours from 2007 to 2008. He had guest roles in 2007 on Home and Away and Australian outback drama McLeod's Daughters before following big brother Chris to Hollywood.

"I have the best parents you can have. They have worked in child protection for twenty years and have only ever given me encouragement and support. The world is a scary enough place as it is for children. It is important that home should always be a safe place for them." When asked if he believed he was a hero to children. Liam modestly responded: "I don't know if I'm a hero to children, but I'd like to be. I'd like to be a good role model."

Liam Hemsworth certainly seems to be on the right track. He is just one of many Australian actors who have hit the big time in Hollywood. His new movie role will certainly catapult him to greater heights in the tough movie industry.
