Lake Erie College
With an enrollment of over 1,000 students, Lake Erie College is the ideal liberal arts college for those who want to ground themselves in the liberal arts tradition in a close-knit and dynamic learning environment. They have an excellent student/faculty ratio (currently 13:1,) so there is plenty of individual attention for all students, and they are also located within easy distance of Cleveland, so students can take advantage of the opportunities available in a larger city. They are also well-known for their international learning options, so they are an excellent choice for those who plan on taking part in study abroad.
Marietta College
Located in the quaint and beautiful Ohio River town of Marietta, Marietta College has a long and illustrious history going back to the early 19th Century, with roots even further back than that. The average class size at Marietta is 20 students, and they also have a small student-to-faculty ratio, meaning that students that attend receive a great deal of individualized attention. What truly sets Marietta apart, however, is the fact that over 90% of students that enroll receive some form of financial aid, ensuring that most who are accepted can afford to attend. Marietta College seeks to imbue their students with the skills they need to be successful in the world, and so they are an ideal choice for many different kinds of applicants.
Heidelberg University
Heidelberg University, located in the city of Tiffin, offers students a blend of a strong liberal arts curriculum, career preparation, and a vibrant learning community replete with numerous activities and other opportunities for campus involvement. Although they are particularly well-known for producing strong teachers, they are also home to a strong Honors Program, which allows students to supplement their studies with even more rigorous academic challenges. They also offer a unique study-abroad program that allows students to take courses in the city of Heidelburg, Germany.
Urbana University
With a current enrollment of just over 1,300 students, Urbana University is home to a strong, vibrant, and rich intellectual community that imbues students with the values of a liberal arts education. Faculty at this liberal arts college in Ohio are often experts in their fields, and they are committed to helping students in any way possible. Heidelberg University is a very student-centered institution, and as a result they are also very supportive with financial aid; over 90% of students receive some sort of assistance. They also offer a number of opportunities for students to further challenge themselves, including an honors program and numerous campus activities.
