Liberals - Arm Yourselves?!!!

Jeff Musall
The knife edge of sanity that the far right dances on has always been tenuous, but lately many seem to be going over the side, rushing headlong into full-blown extremism. It seems like the election of Barack Obama has fueled an anxious idiocy that is morphing into a danerous potential.

I'm not one to be an alarmist, but I'm also not one to take threats too lightly. I know all kinds of things are typed into blogs and message threads and emails, and most of them are easily dismissed. But it seems like the paradigm is shifting with the nut case right.

Sharron Angle talks about "First Amendment remedies."

Anti-government radicals fly a private plane into a building, shoot law enforcement, and try to kill foreigners.

Joe Miller's thugs arrest a reporter.

A Glenn Beck listener gets stopped by police on his way to shoot up the Tides Foundation.

Tea Party rallies are chock full of racist and inflammatory signs.

Christian right wing militias are growing rapidly, and making threats - some veiled, some fairly open - pointed at liberals.

Hate crimes and language against homosexuals are spiking.

Teabaggers are being encouraged to "monitor" voting and intimidate those who they don't think should be voting.

And in a very ugly scene, Rand Paul supporters attack a woman from MoveOn.org at a Rand Paul event. And the main thug is saying the woman should apologize to him.

And remember, this is when they think they are winning. What happens when their candidates lose? Sharron Angle, with Glenn Beck at her back, are already accusing Harry Reid of stealing the election. They are setting up their supporters to be even angrier, should they legitimately lose. Will any Tea losses coax violence from the angry mob?

The sad thing is, we are having this type of thing now. Sure, the economy is in bad shape, and big issues of import needing to be dealt with. But what happens if we have a real crisis? If there is a major natural disaster, shutting down a big part of the country, would we see right wing death squads?

If there is an event that truly pushes the world economies off the cliff, will roaming bands of angry baggers try to take out their delusions on innocent Americans?

The hate-talk coming from right wing radio, the illogic of the Tea supporters who are campaigning for corporatism while proclaiming freedom, are part of a building pathology that doesn't lend itself to democratic government.

If you are not for their version of America as Christian Empire with no social contract to it's people but wide open range for big corporations, you are seen as an enemy of God and Country. And in the deluded mind, that makes you an open target.

As a liberal writer, I have received death threats. And although I usually disregard them as the rantings of loons, they can give a person pause. And make one wonder, should liberals arm themselves?

Jeff, this is just sad. Where are the right wing extremist death squads Jeff? And you think I am crazy? Please dude. C'mon. There is not theocratic rule on the horizon. Ya know I would be the first to scream no to that. This seems like desperation and an intentional effort to sow fear. If not, what is it? Yet you accuse the right of the very thing you are doing. It's just sad Jeff.

It’s time for you lefties to study Chris Christie - Governor of New Jersey. You may not like his style of cutting spending – but he is exactly what the Tea Party is all about. Billions from the stimulus to build a subway system from NJ to NY – He has said NO, we can’t afford it. It’s time to get this country back on the RIGHT (not right or left) track. This election will show you JEFF that America rejects the Progressive far Left Ideology – JUST think about it for a second, I mean really think – Bush has been gone for a very short time after serving 8 yrs., and next week will show a tremendous gain for Republicans, WHY, it’s not any other reason except the rejection of Progressive Ideology, and if Obama insists on demonizing Republicans, race baiting, and not listening to the WILL of the people, he will be voted out

As an individual who is conservative in some ways and liberal in others I am always amazed at the way the country has consistently polarized itself into these two camps and has resisted any form of party cooperation. I use to believe as Keith was stating that the two party system was a positive force, however I have changed my mind in recent years. I think that this was true to the extent that reforms should have been made that would incite a spirit of cooperation but instead the parties have become a force of division. Sadly, if there is going to be one thing that rips this country apart, it will be lack of bipartisanship. I hear you with the crazy's Jeff, I get it all the time!

I also want to warn you – If you insist on name calling, and the disregard of other beliefs and feelings – than expect the worst and hope for the best!! I would never want anything to happen to you – however – if you believe you can walk in the bar and be the tuff guy, by calling every white guy in there a racist – then take your beating!! I grew up in Detroit – I guess I learned early in life –IT HURTS!!

And in all honesty – AMERICA is not built like any other country – It’s what makes us so unique and sustaining – Keynesian -Progressive won’t work… It is a balance, of right and left… That has made us so unique and powerful, when one idealism, flexes its mussel and touts, I’m better than you – (Bush and Obama) – America will shut it down!! Ebb and Flow – My suggestion to you, would be make your points… Write, enjoy you family, BUT quit the name calling… It is not a racist belief, that this country is moving in the wrong direction – It is a fundamental difference of opinion and belief!!

Jeff, 14 T dollars… Yes, 1000 Billion per Trillion… You and your followers want to stop those corporations they are the problem – if you could stop the 2%, of those BUSH tax cuts, from those filthy corporations, we would be ok, 700 Billion over the next 10 years, We will be Ok, IT’S time to do the math… This country is borrowing from China, Japan, and other countries… 62% of the GDP is spent on entitlement – and growing… This country is broke!! It’s time to look at the facts, NOT THE SHINY ITEMS IN THE STORE…. I have read the Progressive intent – BREAK THE COUNTRY and REBULD IT!! The problem you and your followers have, is BREAK IT – YOU WONT…America is a country you can not break!! WHEN SH$t hits the fan…. America will not break… OF COURSE YOU KNOW THIS…. And THIS ELECTION WILL PROVE IT!!

  • Jesse Schmitt10/27/2010

ah yes! so you did hear about that!

  • Keith Bonnett10/27/2010

Jeff, Here’s the real issue – Obama is the POTUS – Not the President of the Progressive party – Over the last 2 yrs, and even today, He HAS stood his ground as the President of the Progressive Party. To you and your Progressive followers he has not done enough – To many he has done way too much damage. Dem’s went nuts when Bush would not meet with the NAACP. Guess what, Obama won’t meet with one of the largest organizations in America, in fact he has ditched the TEA PARTY – YES, my President, does not care about us – He thinks we are not relevant. We ARE!! And will grow more RELEVANT after this election.

Another call just came in – No shots fired!! A women with a red wig tried to throw a sign in the window of one of those crazy tea party people – they stopped her and stepped on her shoulder… She has a head ache, but she’ll be ok….We’ll lead with the story tomorrow “ Tea Party tries to kill. An un- armed defensive old women down the street walking her 12 yr old poodle. Details at 11
