Liberals Should Hope that They Do Not Win the Presidential Election

During my thirty years in business there were always new programs being advocated by very bright people. All the programs promised to reduce expenses and/or increase revenues. It was so bad one year that someone in my company drew a cartoon with a large group of tombstones with the acronyms of the last ten or twelve programs that had been implemented but had since just "faded away". There was one open grave with a tombstone that bore the acronym of the newest program being implemented at the time. There was a saying in our company "if you don't think this program will work, implement it exactly as designed and we will prove that it does not work". That is the same reason that liberals should hope that they do not win the presidential election.

The news media is now reporting that the San Francisco city council is proposing to begin the issuance of fines on businesses that do not cut off lights after work hours. This makes sense for about thirty seconds. This would definitely reduce power consumption in the city. So far, so good said the parachutist...without a parachute. Once the idea moves from the city council room to the people of San Francisco, the idea begins to lose its luster.

The business people of San Francisco realize immediately that tourism is not going to flourish if the town goes dark after business hours. The idea would create one massive dark alley. Not only are business people upset but also the police quickly realize that crime would skyrocket if the town goes dark. At last report the city council was taking a further look at the idea.

How do liberals do things like this and look so ridiculous in the end? I can only come up with one answer and it has to be arrogance. To continually try to force ideas on someone while only considering one liberal viewpoint is foolish and many times expensive and dangerous. We know these liberals are not stupid and do not lack education. They just have a blind eye to any viewpoint that is not consistent with their program. The only correlation I can make is the blind eye that China has in continually making dangerous products and selling them in this country.

If liberals win the upcoming elections they will try to pass legislation that will finalize the conversion of this country to their ideal liberal society. This same blind eye will be applied to the legislation and will result in all cities going dark. We will continue to produce more and more biofuels that do not reduce overall carbon emissions and fail to save the environment as they harm the poor in the world by raising food costs, destroy rain forest and limit availability of food. We will "invest" (that word is the most misused word in the English language) in the massive reduction of oil use even though they are fully aware that existing technology cannot replace the loss in fuel while the reduction is occurring. We will prove that liberalism does not work by implementing the programs just as liberals designed them. The economic and societal destruction to this country will be so great and so extensive that we will never recover from these brilliant ideas. As my co-workers used to say "we will prove that the programs do not work by implementing them as designed." We will only have the authors of the program to blame for the resulting disaster. I have no idea how we will explain it to our children and grandchildren.
