The DREAM Act would provide amnesty and in-state tuition for illegal aliens who were in this country before they were 16 years old. They can also receive financial aid. In-state tuition is not available to American citizens who are from another state nor is it available to legal aliens from other states. The only way that you can qualify for the benefits of the DREAM Act is to have broken American law. The bill is a massive reward for illegal activity. It places illegals ahead of legal aliens and American citizens.
Whether or not that person is a child, that person can receive the benefit of in-state tuition as well as a temporary green card that can easily be changed to a permanent one. All you have to do is show documentation that you have a high-school diploma or GED. These are documents that can be easily forged. The alien can also get a green card by arguing that denying it would impose a hardship on his or her family. Once the alien files an application for permanent status, no matter how frivolous, the government is prohibited from taking any action to deport the person. Then the alien gets to sponsor anyone he or she claims is a relative. This is a massive fraud waiting to happen.
The bill even prohibits Federal officials from sharing any of the information in the application with any other Federal agency, regardless of the circumstances. In other words, the alien's violation of Federal law cannot be used against him.
The bill also cancels any deportations against illegal aliens who qualify for the amnesty.
Senator Reid appears eager to ram this amnesty bill through before the people can mobilize against it. He knows he has to sneak it through because it's a terrible bill. This bill is even worse than the shamnesty bill that the American people killed in June. At least that bill had some meager, inadequate enforcement measures. This bill has no enforcement.
This lack of enforcement puts the lives of young Latinos in danger, as it will encourage parents to send their children across the desert to get amnesty and then sponsor them.
Such a bill would entice millions more people to come here as illegal aliens, just as the Simpson-Mazzoli amnesty of 1986 did. It also is described by its advocates as a way to start the process leading to more amnesties for more illegals.
We already have a massive problem that many say is too big to handle. Apparently, Reid and the other liberals seek to increase the flood and speed up the invasion of our country. This "DREAM" is a nightmare.
