Liberty Ink Journal Hits the Stands in Northern Colorado
The Tea Party Gets into the Magazine Business
The other noticeable thing was the mix between professionals and what appeared to be amateurs or those involved in the Tea Party which was refreshing. Too often in media the outlets keep publishing the same old opinions from the same old people without a lot of deference to other people or other voices except for the occasional piece of hate mail. The mix was pleasant to read. Also, the fact that I saw local business in the area supporting the magazine was a nice comfort. Such a thing is good for the economy in Northern Colorado.
The magazine was very easy to read with its modern, large, font, and the clear sections. I would have liked more denoted sections with some pages telling me what was next but it was easy to figure out all the same. Overall it was a good read and one of the few magazines worthy of a good afternoon read which was easy to do because it was only about 50 pages or so which kept it at a great length.
Further research online at www.libertyinkjournal.com revealed the magazine was founded in July of 2010 and that it is published by Stephanie Anderson (Editor-in-Chief) Fran Tellarico (Finance) and Kenneth Clark (Business) and that the magazine was started to do exactly what the cover said, "Restore the Republic." Based on the magazine and some of the authors, one can presume this is an outgrowth of the Tea Party movement. The nice thing is that even someone who is disenchanted with the Tea Party movement can still enjoy the magazine. The publication espouses old fashioned values that conservative people are familiar with and support. The website features a lot of different things like a flip-book version of the printed magazine (very classy) and a very active blog with the latest on Colorado candidate information.
I hope the magazine has plans to expand nationally in the future but for those in Colorado it is a great resource. This is especially true because there is not a lot of conservative voices in the media these days. Even with the rise of the ever-present Fox News there is no dynamic conservative voice in the print media. After reading the Economist, Foreign Affairs, and Time all day long, if you are not liberal, you can get discouraged. But we conservatives need get discouraged no longer. Go read Liberty Ink Journal. I know I will be.
