Liberty University's College Democrats & Republicans Speak Out

James Kimmey
Lynchburg - The Liberty University College Republicans and College Democrats held a press conference Tuesday urging the Student Government Association to pass a resolution supporting and defending the State of Israel.

Joel Krautter, the President of College Democrats along with College Republican Chairman Caleb Mast asked SGA President Matt Mihelic along with other distinguished SGA members to support the bipartisan resolution produced by the two political groups that would eventually make its way to their desks. ""Supporting the State of Israel to defend itself from acts of terrorism is something everyone can and should support, Democrat or Republican," Krautter stated. "I think it's our duty as concerned citizens to talk about the threat Iran is posing to the United States, as well as Israel. That is why I think it's important that we urge members of Congress to support the Iran Refined Petroleum Sanctions Act."

Both groups plan on working with Matt Mihelic and Liberty University Stand With Israel Chairman James Kimmey in order to perfect the legislation.

This was the first forum in which both groups have spoken publically since the "Student Clubs and Organizations Policy" changed last summer. The two groups are still considered "Unofficial" University Organizations.
