Libraries in Cincinnati: Free Activities for Children

The month of April brings showers and the month of May brings May flowers. May is just the beginning of endless hours of Summer fun. Do you live in the Cincinnati, Ohio area and need something for the children to be educated and entertained all in one? The tri state area has many programs for parents to register their children. Local libraries in the area has so much to offer. A tip for parents is to register for every program two weeks in advance. This tip will ensure a spot in the program of your choice.

PLAYTIME is an ideal time for children to inter-react one on one with other children their own age. The Walton Branch time slot is on Tuesdays, 10am-Noon and the Lents Branch is Fridays, 10am-Noon. Each library provides parents and their children with a variety of books and toys. This will help to turn learning into child's play. Play time isn't the only program these two libraries offer the community.

Each program is designed for different age groups. The subject of the programs are determined by the age of the children. What programs does the libraries offer?

PASSPORT TO FAMILY FUN. The Lents branch library gives children the opportunity to explore the world of RC airplanes. The children are able to watch a demo. But the most exciting adventure is they are able to meet a real life pilot, and to be able to play games that are related to flying.

PAJAMA PARTY. Any child from the ages between two and five enjoy any time in their pajamas. The children are invited to bring along their stuffed animal. During this pajama party they will enjoy hearing bedtime stories and so many more fun activities.

ZOO FUN. The Walton branch teaches young children about zoo animals as they read books about animals. Not only do they read animal books but they are given the opportunity to create animal crafts.

MESSY ART. What children doesn't enjoy becoming messy? The answer is every child does. Painting is an outlet expression for children as well as adults. The art project can become messy, so please wear old clothing.

THE STARS IN THE SKY. Stars are a big part of our universe. The exploration into the world of stars with songs and tales and so much more are available through this free program. The children will have a blast exploring the stars and the universe.

CARNIVAL OF CULTURES. Children can explore the world of cultures through stories and food. A puppet theater will perform for those who attend. Parents are invited to bring strollers or wagons to decorate for the parade.
