'Lick Your Fingers' Baked Ham

There has been a misconstrue notion that pork is not good for you, when in fact pork is low in fat and has all the nutrient of beef. There are several ways of preparing pork that will be pleasing to your family and guests. With Christmas on it's way a nice alternative for Christmas dinner is Baked ham. Baking a ham is not a hard chore, it is pretty simple once you have all the ingredients on hand. This recipe is a special family tradition going back two generations and it always have people coming back or more.

1-8lb fully cooked ham

1 medium onion

1 large apple

8 cloves

1/3 cup brown sugar

1/3 cup honey

1/2 cup pineapple juice

1/2 cup sherry

1/2 ftps thyme

1/2 tsp marjoram

Combine brown sugar, honey,pineapple, sherry, thyme and marjoram in a large plastic baking bag and marinate ham for 5 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.

Preheat oven to 350 degree

Slice onion and apple into thick slices and place at the bottom of a baking casserole dish. Sprinkle clove over onion and apple slices then place ham in dish and pour marinade over ham and bake for 45 minutes or at internal temperature of 140 degree, basting frequently so than ham finishes with a glaze.

Serving

Ham is best served sliced on a platter with apples and onions on the side, the jugs can be served in gravey boat.
