Lies

Charlotte Kuchinsky
Recently a lie was uncovered that has broken my heart. It came from someone I loved and trusted. Although it isn't the first time this person has lied, I chose to give the individual the benefit of the doubt and believed what I was told.

Lies are the ultimate betrayal. They hurt both the person who was lied to and the person telling the lie because trust has been breached and may never be reached again.

To help rid myself of some of my anger and my utter disappointment, I chose to write it down and get it out of my system.

Lies;
A more destructive force can't be found.
It rips children from their parents' arms;
Leaving behind a giant chasm
That some may never get around.

Why
Is truth so easy to bend and break?
What is it that one thinks will be gained?
Why can't they see the hurt they may cause
From a single, careless mistake.

Truth
Is sometimes very hard to accept
Because it brings to light betrayal
But lies never carry any good
Only another cause to reject.

    I agree that lies hurt more when they come from those we trust. And once trust is broken, is it really ever repaired?

    Broken trust is almost impossible to repair.

    Lies hurt all the more when they come from people we love and trust... Lovely job putting your emotions in verse!

    Very true. I have a close relative who is a compulsive liar. She can't understand why she has few friends and relatives don't seem to want to be around her. My husband always taught our kids that if your word is no good, you're the same way.

    It's very disappointing when someone you care about lies to you.
