Life After Being "The Whistle Blower"

What Happened to Me After I Blew the Whistle on Co Workers

Laverne Collum
Please read my AC writing about being a whistle blower to fully under stand this publication.

Two or three weeks after I blew the whistle on three co workers, one of them, the Director of Nursing left the job. I do not know if she left under her own speed or if she was terminated. I continued be be treated coldly and rudely by the other two workers involved.

After a few days I received a call from the Regional Manager of my company, asking if I was willing to go to Nashville,Tn to a seminar for the company. I agreed and the plans were made for the trip.

A couple of days after that, I received a call from the Physician that is the Medical Director for our company. He advised me of a promotion and pay raise I was receiving. Yes, a promotion and a raise! I was promoted to Administrator and received a raise.

Shortly after my promotion, I received notification from Corporate that the Superior I had reported the incident to was no longer employed by our Company. I do not know if her termination was connected in any way to my situation.

Suddenly, the situaton in my office changed drastically. It is totally amazing how such a thing as a promotion can change the minds and attitudes of people, but this one did!

So, this is my way of telling any and everyone that Truth will always prevail, and you should never compromise your morals;. especially to be popular.

I went through several weeks of shear hell, but I never let any of them see me sweat it, nor did they ever know whether or not I was really affected by their behavior. I stood my ground, did my job and held my head high through it all.

So, now, I am proud to say I am working harder than ever at my job, and loving every minute of it.
And yes, I still sleep really well every night.

I'm glad things worked out for the best for you! It is such a hard thing these days to stand up for what is right as well as take the heat that follows. Kudos to you!

You did the right thing. I don't work to be popular - I work for money. Because I contract, I can stay out of all the office politics. I'm pleased you can now enjoy your job and congrats. on the promo and pay rise. Well deserved by the sounds of things. It is said "the truth shouldn't hurt" - well it didn't hurt you my gal!
