Life After Pain

O. Harding
It's almost a year now
Since you passed away,
The heartache, the pain
I hope never come again,
Time the great healer, has taken my tears
Away so far, I hardly remember it's just a year.

The grave is far less important now,
It holds no more attraction;
Time to move onward,
Time for a new life,
Time to leave the past behind
And reach for life,
The abundant life promised by the Master above.

Remember, yes I remember,
All the great times of the past,
May history serve to inform the present,
Never to linger on what was,
But to press on to what can be.

Thanks for all you taught me,
It adds value to my life now;
I am happy not because you are gone,
But because I know you are with God;
Some day I'll see you again,
Until then, my life here goes on,
Fulfilling the glorious plan
That came with me when my life began.

    Very heart-felt. Nicely written.
