Life as We Know It

Cheryl Engelke

I pick up the phone

But there's no one at home

The ordinary places I could find you

Now are all gone

I want to reach out and touch you

Tell you I love you

But there is no way to reach you now

And I'm all alone

Two hours a week

If I can make it

Can't buy back time

Can't even fake it

The days that we've lost

Insignificant pleasures

Things taken for granted

Now do you treasure?

I count the days

The hours and the minutes

No one can touch

This love when we're in it

What will it take

For no more mistakes

And give up this life

I've grown to hate
