Life - the New Documentary Series on Discovery Channel

L. Klinker
Discovery Channel is set to debut a new natural history documentary television series entitled Life. Life comes from the creators of the BBC and Discovery Channel's highly acclaimed Planet Earth series, which aired in the U.S. in 2007. There are 11 episodes of Life scheduled to air on the Discovery Channel. The series will document many different forms of plant life and wildlife in their natural habitat.

The premiere episode of Life entitled 'Challenges of Life,' presents an overview on how different animals and plants adapt in order to survive on our planet.

Other episodes in the Life series will feature reptiles & amphibians, mammals, fish, birds, creatures of the deep, hunters and hunted, insects, plants, and primates.

To conclude the Life series, a special 'Making of Life' episode will tell the amazing stories of the many men and women who spent countless hours patiently waiting for just the right shot.

The Life series will be narrated by popular talk show host Oprah Winfrey, who is partnering with Discovery to launch the Oprah Winfrey Network, which will replace Discovery Health sometime this year.

The Life series will have its two hour premiere broadcast simultaneously on seven of Discovery's U.S. networks in order to reach a wider audience. In addition to airing on the Discovery Channel, Life will be shown on Planet Green, TLC, Animal Planet, The Science Channel, Investigation Discovery, and Discovery Health. HD subscribers can also watch the show in high definition on the following channels: Discovery Channel HD, Animal Planet HD, Science Channel HD, Investigation Discovery HD, TLC HD, and Planet Green HD. The simulcast is set for Sunday, March 21, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Following its premiere on the seven Discovery U.S. networks, Life will air in two episode installments every Sunday on only the Discovery Channel and Discovery Channel HD starting at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. The series will conclude with its 'Making of Life' special airing at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on April 18, 2010.

My family and I watched the Planet Earth series, and we were totally captivated by the breathtaking photography and wonderful storytelling. I am certain that the Life series will not disappoint. I encourage everyone to watch this series with their families. It will no doubt be a wonderful learning experience for adults and children alike.
