Life Method

Althea Floyd
I am water; I am dirt.
I am a part of the earth.
Together we rise,
Mud and water,
Buds and eyes,
Together we fall.
Ashes, Ashes
Droop down all.

I am water; I am dirt.
I am part of the earth.
God-breathed, dust made
Brother Oaks, sister Ferns,
A family in temporary fade-
Yet immortal imprints forever stand.
Immortal souls forever land.

I am water; I am dirt.
I am part of the earth.
My breath is air, elixir of life.
I will drink deep,
So it slides down my soul.
My temperament it will keep.

You ware water; you are dirt.
You are part of the earth.
Differences-the Red Wood and the bee,
But the same past, the same future,
The sky and the sea.
Your cheek, my eye
Made by the same design.
Together we live.
Together we die.
