Life Should Not Be Wasted

Jessica Holbrook

Life should not be wasted,
Saying nothing really real
The world should be tasted
To us it should appeal
We can do more with our lives.

We should say what we mean
Even though we want to gab
We need to stop the in-between
Of nag, yap, peck, and blab
We can do more with our lives.

We should find a way to love
Even those that we cannot stand
To be near for too much of
The precious time that we have planned
We can do more with our lives.

I think hate should be destroyed
We watch it almost everyday
As others are deployed
Our world is stuck in disarray
We can do more with our lives.

We breathe in smoke at every corner
Both factories and people blow it at us
In the smoke, I feel like a foreigner
I can't even take a bus
We can do more with our lives.

I wish they would just take a breath
And realize how just how much
They're reaching out towards death
Can't we just change as such?
We can do more with our lives.

If we would only try
To love, help, breathe,
And talk; instead of whine, cry
Wheeze, hate, and seethe
We would do more with our lives.
