Since it was discovered that there actually are parallel universes and that communications is possible between them, life in our world has become much more complex. It's confusing, of course, for Earth people to have to study the history of more than one universe. Most people wouldn't bother; others feel it's vitally important to do this. I feel it's urgent because I'm interested in the technological advances between the various worlds. There is one such world orbiting Saturn. This is a moon named Terah. To me the history of Terah is intriguing. Its history is so close to ours that a technology buff such as I would find it enchanting
Before we began communicating with Terah, we knew it as Titan, the largest moon of the planet Saturn. The inhabitants of Titan were found to be much like those of Earth. They have heads, bodies, arms and legs like the people of Earth. Even our languages are similar. It is felt by many that our two peoples must have had a common ancestry. I'm especially enthralled that the name of this world is an anagram of the word Earth. This could not have been a coincidence. There is, however, a remarkable difference, Unlike Earth where there are hundreds of nations, Terah has a one-world government.
Both Earth and Terah have benefited from our new-found kinship. We have taught the population of Terah about electricity and they have shown how they are using steam power with great success. There is not a great deal of petroleum and coal on Terah. The steam is made by controlled atomic fusion. There is an abundance of wood on this moon, especially mahogany and, where Earth uses steel, Terah uses lumber. Automobile bodies, ships, even buildings, use mahogany construction. Plastics have been outlawed since they bio-degrade so slowly. The autos of Terah use steam power. The greatest problem with steam autos is that, at one time, they required an unacceptable length of time to build a head of steam after starting them. The problem was solved with spring-wound coils of wire. These provide kinetic power while steam is building up.
Each orbit of Terah around Saturn has the name of what we would call a month. Twenty orbits has a name that corresponds to what we term a year. A year on Terah is about 320 Earth days. The numbering system of this moon has 12 digits. Events on Terah have paralleled many of ours. For example, certain inventors on this moon are revered in much the same way we honor Edison, Bell, Morse, and Fulton. Of special interest is the fact that there are no computers on this moon. There is an interesting story about this that I'll summarize below.
During a period of about 80 Terah years, steam-powered computers were invented and became widely used. They were actually assigned to regulate life on this moon. There came a time, however, when life on Terah became so stereotyped that the population decided to take back their former control. The enterprise did not proceed smoothly. The ruling computers resisted the Terahnian efforts but were defeated when the computers' source of steam was interrupted. Today, it is unlawful for computers to exist anywhere. Even hand-held calculators are banned. Independence from computers was achieved in the Terahnian year 7776. In an incredible coincidence, this event took place on the fourth day of the month having the name Lyju. The date Lyju 4 has been celebrated on Terah ever since as a world holiday.
