Life Size Ghost: Creating Musical Substance

Wailing guitars, driving drums, and a mixture of different instruments has brought stage presence that is hard to come by in a dwindling area of Michigan, Life Size Ghost, is proving that with enough heart and soul, you can create an unbeatable sound. Talking with the band members recently, they told me they are stretching their legs, trying to bring new cities and fans closer, they are very personal, talking with a genuine tone remarkably every time I see them. In the music business these days, this is something hard to come by, people forget who they are, but no this band, there live performance can be felt strongly, with heart, soul, a mixture of feelings, it really makes you step back and think.

Motivation is not something you see from many bands around the area, they are dedicated to bringing you an excellent piece of original work every time you see a live performance, they give you what you pay for at the door, and then some. Its remarkable the standard they are setting for up and coming musicians, to wrap so much beauty and intelligence in their songwriting capabilities, it almost makes you wonder when time will take and sweep them away from us, in this small chunk of the world. Nine times out of ten, you cannot fit the whole band on a regular local stage, with drums, guitars, piano, and the vibes, that's right, I said it, the vibes, its not something you hear everyday, you have to stop and stare for awhile.

Recently, I had the opportunity to watch them perform at the Hamilton Street Pub in Saginaw, Michigan, a set of lyrics stuck out completely on a stage full of madness. The lead singer, Tali pushed out this sentence "with one desire left to lose, let that image leave your mind, well I'm not ready, and I'm not willing". This left my brain traveling somewhere, trying to experience what she was feeling, in my own words, I believe, she was dreaming about an idea, and doubting the path she might be taking, something that rings loud in all of our lives. Dreaming is the greatest gift we have, and it's counterpart doubt leaves us wondering, leading us to a path we never walked before.

If you have not had the chance or have never heard of these local musicians the time is now, get out and experience the joy of our evolving musical scene, where bands like Life Size Ghost are taking risks and trying something new, something refreshing with confidence and ease, you will be blown away, and much as I was. Myspace is where you can find show updates and a taste of their musical abilities, www.myspace.com/lifesizeghost let them know what you think.
