Life Stream Hemp Plus Organic Waffles Product Review

My husband invented a new word the other morning. "Spungerrylicious," he exclaimed upon taking a bite of LifeStream's Hemp Plus Organic Whole Grain Waffles.

Let's get this straight. We're big on the organic life in our family. We're not big on convenience foods. So when we discover a product that is organic and touts itself as a convenience food, we're very wary. Turns out we had no reason to be.

The Life Stream Hemp Plus Organic Whole Grain Waffles are delicious. The whole family enthusiastically devoured them the other morning, saying how much they liked the flavour and texture. Which is saying something from a family of food purists. The flavour was slightly nutty from the hemp seeds, and had a good even texture to it. We toasted our waffles - the slight crunch on the outside made a nice contrast with the otherwise smooth consistency.

We decided to enjoy our waffles with ... (whisper whisper ... apple yogurt...) and the combination of the waffle and yogurt made it doubly delicious.

As far as nutrition goes, the waffles are, overall, fairly good. A mere 210 calories, with 5 g of fibre and 6 g of protein make this a great breakfast to consider for those in training or into high intensity work first thing after eating. The waffles are high in fats (14% of daily values - though most are Omega 3 and Omega 6 fats) and in carbohydrates (28 g) which may not make them ideal for diabetics.

The price on these waffles was close to $4.00 - which might deter you from buying these for a family staple. However, we'd be happy to buy these again as a special treat. Spungerrylicious indeeed!
